Suck. Suck. Suck.

I don't have a normal post today. Mostly because my file with all my A2A posts was stolen. Many, many of the things I cherish were stolen yesterday. And I'm completely devastated.

I haven't gone out much since the baby was born but decided I'd take the kids to Grandma's to swim today. While we were gone, someone broke into our house and tore the place apart. Emptied every dresser drawer and crate/box in the house, the fridge and pantry, broke open bathroom cabinets etc. And stole so, so, so many things. Things like the brand new sit-n-stand stroller that I never even got to take out the door yet for a test drive. Things like my camera and video camera with all the footage from the baby's birth. TV and iPods. Every piece of jewelry I've ever owned-- including things I received back in high school, everything my husband has given me, special necklaces from my kids, things from my mom, special gifts for my daughters etc. The worst? My engagement ring. I still can't quite believe I'll never see my engagement ring again. They also got all of the copies of my books. And the police officers didn't understand what I was talking about when I just kept crying that they took all of my USBs! They have all the copies of every book I've written! I just couldn't believe it. I didn't know what I was going to do. I backed up my files onto a bunch of USBs in case one died but duh, never thought someone would just come by and take them all. Today's post was on there too so that is why there is no great post for today. Luckily, when dh got here he mentioned that he happened to make a copy of one of my USBs onto a hard drive a couple of months ago so I do have copies of my books. Just lost the work from the last couple of months. Whew.

I know I should just be grateful that we are all ok. That my kids and I were gone when it happened and no one was hurt. That it is all just stuff. And believe me I really, really am! And I do feel that most of it WAS just "stuff" that apparently someone(s) wanted really badly. But I can't help feeling devastated and violated anyway. And completely freaked out. And I realize this isn't a writing-related post but I just can't get in the mood. At least there is one writing tip you can take away from this post-- not only should you save your books in a bunch of places but spread them out so that no one can come in and just pluck them up all together.

Oh, Tina! I am sooo sorry! That does Suck suck suck! That is just amazing that they took so much and such unusual things. Do you have any email copies of your books? I sometime email them to myself. That way they are on a completely independent server.

And the stroller! Wow!

Here's a boatload of hugs for you and yours...

Oh Tina - how terrible!!! I can't even imagine what that must be like, coming home to find your home torn upside down and things you treasured gone.

I'm so sorry.

Sending you and your family lots of hugs today.

Wow, I'm left speechless. This sucks, big time. How horrible. I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through. Definitely lucky you and the kids weren't home, but still, such a horrible thing to have to go through.

Sending big hugs your way!

That person is evil, and I hope that evil deeds bites him on the arse. Seriously. SHAME ON HIM. What a violation of basic human trust.

We love you!!

Oh, no! I'm so sorry to hear this! I can't imagine having all my valuables--sentimental and monetary--being taken like that. Big ((HUGS)) to you!

Oh no! That's just awful. My house has never been broken in to, but my car has. And there's just no way around that horrible, violated feeling. So don't beat yourself up over feeling that way, because someone DID violate your space and you have every right to be upset over it. **HUGS** :)

I hope the police catch the (insert colorful metaphors) who did this.

My sympathies, that feeling of violation can really be terrible. I used to keep my books on a secondary server, I had to stop it and I haven't had a chance to replace it yet. Which is a 'bad' thing. I do keep a mostly accurate copy in random places, including the USB drive on my keychain (which I *never* let my wife touch because she kills them).

But, I hope you do recover what you can and hope they find the people who did it.

OK, I did most of my swearing in an email to you so I'll try to keep it clean here:

Those JERKS! Who steals USBs????? For god's sake, that is so pathetic!!!! JERKS!!!!!

Tina, I am SO SORRY. I will keep hoping that they catch the crook and bring him down hard with possibly a bat to the knees.

I can't believe this either. Who even knew you were out of the house? My house was robbed when I had a baby at home, too, and it's a terrifying feeling. I wish there was a way to make up for the sentimental things that were taken. Your family is very much in my thoughts right now.

Tina,

I'm so enraged on your behalf.

I hope the police will look carefully at your immediate neighborhood. Sounds like someone has been paying close attention to your comings and going.

Grrrr.

Oh honey—here's hoping that they're monumentally stupid and try to pawn everything at the same place. That's usually a dead giveaway.

If maybe your husband is up to it, you should have him call area pawn shops and describe the stuff that was stolen, especially your engagement ring.

But in the end, yes, it's just stuff and I'm so glad all of you are safe.

Tina... I"m so, so, so sorry this has happened to you. I'm just sickened that someone could be so cruel, and I desperately wish there was something I could do to restore not only those things that are precious and irreplaceable, but also your sense of safety and security which is also precious and irreplaceable.

In lieu of that, I'll simply say that I'm here if there is anything at all I can do to help and I am thinking of you and your family and wishing you the best.

Oh, that is just so terrible. Poor poor Tina, I can only imagine how sad and scared you must feel. I am so mad for you and so upset - my thoughts are with you and the kids. I hope the USBs burn the thieves' hands.

This is the 2nd post I've read today of someone being violated in this way. Makes me sick. :(

Aw, man! That really does SUCK! I know how it feels to be robbed but not to the extent you were. I hope the catch the lousy thief(or thieves). During the Medieval Period, they hung thieves. You can understand the feeling behind it. I hope the police can recover at least some of it for you.

I drop by to read your great blog sometimes but have never posted here before. I just had to offer my condolences.
