A2A's School Days Giveaways, Day 1

Tip of the Day: Here are the giveaway rules--enter a comment before midnight to win. We'll pick a comment and announce the winner tomorrow. Sorry, United States mailing addresses only. Remember, we're giving away a new book with a school theme every day this week!

Can you believe school starts again in a week and a half? Of course, down south, school's already in session, but here in New York, school starts after Labor Day. I spent the weekend buying school supplies and going back to school clothes shopping with my kids. That was definitely my favorite part of returning to school as a teenager: the clothes sales!

No, I take that back. My favorite part was looking forward to seeing the boys I hadn't seen all summer.

One of my funnest high school memories is the very first day. I was dreading seeing the boy who had followed me around for most of eighth grade, so not eager for another year of being pestered by the twerp. Surprise! Ninth grade started and the former twerp had lost the braces and shot up six inches over the summer. Wow! He could follow me around any time!

Today I'm giving away Fly on the Wall by e. lockhart. The main character, Gretchen, hates her school and doesn't fit in. The boys there confuse her to the point of obsession. If only she could follow them around school unseen ...

Win my book and you can find out how Gretchen gets her wish. Just enter a comment. Plus! You get a bonus, second entry if you link to our blog from yours! Just let us know where you've linked us in your comment. Emily will announce the winner tomorrow and kick off her own book giveaway. Good luck!

WooHoo!
I can't believe you guys are giving this book away!

Son started school already (he's in his third week). I love the smell and look of a nice clean backpack.

*le sigh*
It already smells moldy.

I loved the new clothes, new pens and notebooks...and the boys for sure! But I think if I had the power of e. lockhart's fly, I'd be blushing. :)

ah....school starts today for my little sweet peas. Did the school supply shopping last week. Can you believe it was impossible to find a pencil box for my first grader?! Apparently K-Mart had a BOGO sale and ran out.

I'd love to be a fly on her classroom wall this time!

You know, I don't remember having a laundry list of school supplies that were required when I was going to into 2nd grade. Three boxes of tissues?!? What kid goes through 3 boxes of tissues? And a bottle of tequila????

We've been in school since aug 13 so my two year old has missed his sister, who started 2nd grade.

I would love to win this book. It sounds funny.

Count me in. :)

School was always the point of a new binder that didn't have any writing on it and a fresh pack of mechanical pencils. Oh, I loved emptying out the box of leads into a pencil and just clicking them in and out. :)

Didn't really get into boys or girls until my college years, so can't say I ever looked forward to that.

I read this about two years ago and loved it. Sadly, I don't own a copy, but would really like to reread it.

Thanks for the contest! =)

Kindergarten starts for my 5 year old right after Labor Day. Kindergarten is sooo far away from high school that I just can't even imagine it. And it scares the crap out of me. :)

This sounds like a really cute read. Please include me in your draw. :)

My oldest started kindergarten on 8/13, so my 2 year old is also missing her big sister.

oh yeah, and I posted about this in my brand spanking new blog (which I swear I didn't create just for this contest, but wouldn't that be cool?), in case that nets me another entry.

The kids started school here on the 18th, so we've had almost two full weeks. Almost, because we hosted Tropical Storm Fay for a couple of days.

I love picking out new gel pens for my classroom every year, plus little notebooks for my purse, car, etc. Unfortunately, with no supply money this year, I bought a whole lot more for my students. But hey, it's all good. I have a whole new batch of kids to hook on reading!
